Day 30 Gift > 7 Simple Steps to Setting Up a Meditation Space

Is one of your goals for the new year to have LESS STRESS in your life? Yeah, I thought so. Me too.

Have you tried meditating?  Yeah, me too. I can’t always get the hang of it, but I keep trying…

Well, we’re both in luck today. I teach a business class called “Your Business Breakthrough,” and my student Rena has written a 7-step guide on how to set up your meditation space. Do you need a separate studio or a corner of a room? Should it be hot or breezy, sparse or filled with bits … Rena’s free guide is called “7 Simple Steps to Setting Up a Meditation Space.” I really appreciate her focus on SIMPLE!

Here’s all you have to do to get your FREE copy of “7 Simple Steps to Setting Up a Meditation Space”:

2. Then come back here and please post a comment below and let us know what you think … tell us what you LOVE about her ideas. And please go ahead and share with Rena what else would you like to learn about meditating.

All best,
Shelley

Rena, it’s everything that I should have known and put together in pleasing step by step way that I for one will be able to follow and accomplish today and be ready to start immediately! Thank you Shelley and Rena. And I’m interested in anything that I can learn to help me with wandering thoughts.

Rena and Shelley,

Thank you for this! Today, Dec. 31, is the day I choose for a final run through of the house to ditch items I don’t want to take with me into 2012. I have had this goal to set up a space for just me to read and write and think (meditate) all year, and I think today I will have it. Thank you for keeping it simple; the goal is the SET SPACE not some fancy hooooya!

Love and and a Blessed New Year to you all!

This is the singularly most thorough guide to creating a space for meditation that I’ve ever read. In fact, I haven’t read much about meditation, but in the bit that I have read, this is the best. I like the suggestions to expand the typical decor to include tranquil scenes that one can enjoy.
Thanks.

Dear Shelley and Rena,

Thank you for this easy-to-follow article! Such great timing … I am a teacher with the School of Metaphysics, and we are ushering in 2012 with 20 hours and 12 minutes of meditation (started at 5 am Central Time this morning and continuing through 1:12 am CT January 1st. We welcome anyone to join us at any time!)

I have been meditating for 33 years and it’s probably one of the best things I have done, insuring that I can be at peace and radiate love and light no matter what is going on around me. To Maureen, there are actually exercises you can do to improve concentration. If you want to learn more, I wrote a little book about concentration and would be glad to give you some tips if you email me.

Happy 2012 everyone! Peace and blessings!

Thank you Shelley and Rena. I loved the article…especially that the focus is on beginning to meditate rather than on the space being perfect. While I have practiced meditation before, a guide for beginners would be wonderful for getting back into the practice. Have a wonderful 2012.

Congratulations! This guide is simple and perfect as guidelines. It makes it sound so doable! Been trying to meditate and somewhat struggling- creating my spot slowly and over time I think helps with the whole concept that it does not happen immediately and it is okay to work at it. Thanks this helped me feel like I will get there. I agree with Joyce now that I understand the importance of having a dedicated space to meditate and your description as to why in #2, I believe a guide for beginners or those struggling to get the hang of meditation is a wonderful idea as a next step. Healthy and Successful 2012 to all!!!!!!!!!!

Shelley, Thanks to you for providing this forum for Rena to share the meditation suggestions. Thank you, Rena, for a thorough and clearly presented guide ~ I’ve been meditating for years and still talk with people who seem to feel creating “their space” is difficult and requires an entire room … you have provided a simple set of steps to help them move into new experience.

These are great tools to use …I have been trying to learn how to meditate and find my own place/space to do it…As I only have my bed in my bedroom this is where I need to do it….Please tell me if my bed is a plus or a minus for this…..
Thanks,
Lela

Hi Lela! Unless you like sitting on the floor, I’d say your bed is a PLUS for meditating. ;-) I’ve successfully meditated while sitting on the edge of my bed many, many times. Just do your best to sit up straight and DEFINITELY resist the temptation to try meditating while lying down! Aside from the numerous reasons listed in ancient texts for maintaining an upright posture, beds are just too darned comfortable! You’ll either fall asleep in the process or—at best—you’ll stay awake but have a much harder time focusing your mind on your chosen thought or feeling, which is known as your “object” of meditation. Happy meditating, and feel free to send me any other questions you may have to: rena@lifestylerightsize.com.
